Robert's Story
After leaving Arcadia, I went on to Whittier College and USC. I ended up working in New York for the Port Authority, including a stint at JFK Airport. I also spent two years on Saudi Arabia working for the Saudi National Bus Company. I returned to NY, living in Brooklyn for more than a decade, and working at several public agencies and businesses. I returned to LA (Long Beach) in 1997 and started a coaching and consulting practice. That's taken me all over the world -- Europe, Africa, Asia, and, shortly, India.
I've been married twice. Charlotte, my second wife, and I have been married for 25 years now. I have two sons, one on the east coast and one in Singapore. Char and I have have a beautiful blue ketch in Long Beach named Tuckernuck. We hope to take her south to Mexico and who knows where after that in a year or so. I love to sail. s properly set and the boat moving well, nothing can be really wrong.
My heroes are Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy. They inspired me with the thought that we really could be a better country and a better society. Unfortunately they were killed before they had a chance to realize their promise. And these days I wonder if they were too good for us.
After leaving Arcadia, I lived in Whittier for several years while I was in school, and then moved to New York -- actually, to Fairview, New Jersey. We also lived in Cliffside and Englewood. From a while after that I shared time between apartments in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The big move was to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while I worked for SAPTCO. Talk about a change of neighborhood! But then I moved right back to Manhattan and subsequently to Brooklyn, where Char and I lived until we moved to Long Beach.
